I Shaved My Head When Robert Stanfield Died

"...because Canadian politics is a baffling mystery that, when explained, still doesn't make sense, and has no bearing on anything." -Commenter on a Diefenbaker YTMND I made

This just in: Conservative Party an arm of the Government of Canada!

Well, that must be the case, otherwise they wouldn't be distributing hockey pucks with the logo of the Government of Canada, autographed by the Prime Minister.

"He did not say how many pucks - which carry the official government insignia on the side opposite Harper's signature - were paid for by the party."

It has always been my opinion that it is actually better that these sort of things, especially if they're being used for government purposes, like being given to fireign dignitaries, and under the auspices of the Governemtn of Canada, are paid for by the government. If Harper, or any head of government for that matter, hasn't got the political capital to do that, then they shouldn't be made.

In the race to make the public purse tighter, we may well be foolishly re-blurring the line between a shrinking government, and its growing political machinery.

If we Were to Turn off the Cameras would Jack Layton Still Exist?

This is without a doubt the most pathetic attempt to politically profit off of percieved outrage in Canadian political history:

"People believe they heard him say certain things and he should be a big enough man to stand up and say, 'Irrespective of what I think I might have said, obviously some people heard me say something that was deeply insulting, and I apologize,"' Layton said.

So... Jack just said that Peter Mackay should apologise for things that others think they heard, even though he belives he didn't say them? Look, I'm the first to believe that Peter MacKay should be apologising, prostrating himself before the Canadian people, David Orchard, and Belinda Stronach for past slights, but if he believes that he didn't say what he's accused of saying, then he has a responsibility to not apologise, to proclaim his innocence. Jack, you have just pissed away whatever remaining credibility you have with the 'average canadian' and YOU should resign your position as leader of the New Democratic Party.
